Steel Storage Systems Named a Finalist for the 2026 Colorado Manufacturing Network Generational Excellence Award

Commerce City, Colo. — May 2026
Steel Storage Systems, Inc. was named a finalist for the Manufacturing Generational Excellence Award as part of the 2026 Colorado Manufacturing Network Awards, presented by Manufacturer’s Edge in partnership with the Adams County Regional Economic Partnership (AC-REP).

The Manufacturing Generational Excellence Award recognizes companies that have operated successfully for multiple decades, become pillars of their communities, maintained a commitment to local hiring and supporting the local community around them. Special consideration was given to family-owned businesses that have passed leadership from one generation to the next. ColoradoBiz Magazine covered the full list of nominees across all award categories ahead of the May 7 ceremony at Mile High Station in Denver.

Founded in 1964 and now led by the third generation of the McCallin Family, Steel Storage Systems has been manufacturing material handling equipment in Commerce City for more than 60 years. Through ownership transitions, economic cycles, and an evolving industry, our core values have remained the same; to support our clients, our employees, and the community here in Commerce City we’ve called home since the very beginning.

Being recognized alongside other long-standing Colorado manufacturers is something we’re grateful for. The Colorado Manufacturing Network Awards have become one of the state’s most meaningful celebrations of the people and companies keeping manufacturing strong in Colorado, and we’re honored to be part of that conversation.

Winners were announced at the CMNA Awards Dinner on May 7, 2026, and while we didn’t take home the award, being nominated for the first time and being recognized as a finalist among so many strong Colorado manufacturers is a huge honor for us. The 2026 Generational Excellence Award went to Merritt Trailers, another third-generation family manufacturer with deep roots in Colorado, and it’s hard to argue with that. We’re grateful to Manufacturer’s Edge and the Colorado Manufacturing Network for the recognition, and proud to be part of a community of companies that are keeping manufacturing alive and well in this state.
